Any of the above services can be combined. All Lessons and Consultations are conducted via ZOOM.
Piano lessons will require a camera device positioned directly above the keyboard. Ideally, a second device will be positioned next to you to assess posture and technique, and well as making communication more efficient. However, one camera will be sufficient if you are able to turn it while we communicate.
Guitar lessons will only require one device. I may ask you to reposition on occasion so that I may assess posture and technique.

Meet Your Instructor
Hi there! I’m Mateo. I’ve been playing music for 25 years! I began with piano lessons and guitar lessons in the 3rd grade, which, I must confess, I gave up after 1-2 years due to boredom and shyness. As a teenager, my desire to play surfaced again. I picked up the guitar and began to piece together what I had learned years prior, in addition to learning new styles, concepts, and techniques from my friends. I began developing a finger-style technique on the acoustic guitar. As an adult, I decided to pursue formal music education at Columbia College Chicago, where attained a BM in Music Composition.
After teaching private lessons on and off for 15 years while pursuing various musical pursuits as a guitarist and singer-songwriter, I decided to set my artistic pursuits aside and make teaching my full-time occupation in 2020. I love teaching! There is nothing more satisfying than helping something “click” for a student, whether it’s a theoretical concept or helping them find that perfect song that is unique to THEM!
Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or honing your skills, I’m here to help you make this process fun and approachable. It’s all pretty simple at the end of the day. It just requires the right approach, the desire to learn, and the ability to have fun practicing!
